How to Win at College
From personal experience I can honestly say that my freshman year at college is one of the most stressful rollercoaster rides in my life and this passage would have been very helpful to me if I read it at the beginning of the year and not the end. One of the things that was covered on this text was that you should schedule your free time; your free time is not the time in the day where you are not doing school work it considered whenever you are relaxing. I figured this out first hand in my first fall semester because after class I would always just go back to my room and lay in bed or watch T.V. instead of doing anything productive. Planning out your free time is a very smart thing to do in your transition to college living. Another thing that I found very true is eating with friends more than once a day takes up a lot of time in the day but for me I usually don’t eat at the dining halls, I usually just get the food and go back to my room or my friend’s room and eat there. The author also brought up the point that you should never study in your room because you will most times get distracted and no a lot of work will get done, because of this I study in the library where it is very quiet and away from my friends. Another thing that I found very true was when they talked about how you should stay in touch with your friends back home because they know you way better than anyone at college knows you unless you’re like me and have one of your best friends from home as your roommate. One thing that the author talked about that I personally did not do was sign up for something in the first week. The benefits of doing this would be getting to know more students and making more friends to make your transition to college life easier.

Navigating Your Freshman Year
In this passage they took a bunch of advice from college students to help freshman transition to college life. The author of this passage talked about what your freshman year is and what it is not. The author said that freshman year is for most people, their first time living away from home which is true but to add on to that it is where you meet new people, transition to a new setting, and where you get your first taste of real responsibility. The author also said what freshman year is not, and they said freshman year is not where you decide what to do with the rest of your life which I found very true. In this passage they also talk a lot about your rooming situation and how things can go bad and ways to fix them. One of the first things that the author talked about was how you should not lie on your roommate questionnaire, the reason that you shouldn’t lie is because you want to get matched with someone who you have more things in common with and if you lie you will most likely hate your roommate. Overall these two articles pretty much cover the same topics and they both give you advice on how to approach your freshman year of college.
